The prices and availability of non laminated screens are pretty good. Non laminated screens on the other hand are not only much more expensive but can often be hard to find. I have an ipad air 1st gen that is going to need replacing soon. And now i refuse to buy any ipad to use with an apple pencil without lamenation.

Laminated screens are more complicated to make and that is why it costs more. You can feel the sluggishness and not as precise movements vs a lamented ipad screen. How important is a fully laminated display. For example at the beginning of 2017 an ipad air 2 screen assembly laminated cost about 75.

Not only that but laminated displays are also able to show deeper black shades than the non laminated versions. So for strength and breakage resistance temper glasses often is the first consideration. A laminated poster is the same poster but covered in a transparent plastic coating rather like membership cards for video shops and the like. Laminated screens are great and have a lot of advantages over their non laminated counterparts.

Cost although both laminated and normal screen is almost made of the same base materials but the main difference is in the manufacturing process. The new 9 7 inch ipad may be cheap but its screen isn t laminated and doesn t have an anti reflective coating. It will resist creasing and be much more robust and last longer in good condition. Everyone has different tolerances.

But there are some minor disadvantages too which are important to consider. I sure as heck couldn t. My device has a laminated display which is beautiful and i m wondering if getting the standard non laminated ipad instead of the pro is going to be a big let down or just a minor loss i can live with.
