How Do You Hang Rain Gutters

How do you hang rain gutters.

Start by resting a level on the roof near the high point of the gutter. Hook on gutter hanging straps. With the gutters screwed to the fascia it s a simple job to install the hidden gutter hangers. One half of the seam can be on the ground before you hang each piece.

For rainy climates where gutters will handle a larger amount of water for long periods they should have a maximum distance of 18 inches apart between them. Install hangers every two feet to support the gutters and strengthen the front edge. Install hanging brackets onto the gutter positioning one in front of each rafter. Raise the gutter to the chalk line and fasten each hanging bracket by screwing through the fascia and into the rafter tail.

Temporarily screw the gutter to the fascia positioning it about 2 inches below the chalk line. Step 3 screw the eyehook into the soffit under the roof crease where you ll hang your rain chain. Connect the marks with a chalk line to create a guide for the top of the gutter. These do it yourself gutters come in 10 foot sections which are seamed together with a special bracket and sealant.

The gutter should be sloped towards the downspout so that water properly drains in that direction. Drill a hole in the bottom of the bucket. Secure the downspout outlet to the gutter with four pop rivets or screws. Rotate your gutter upward pushing it away from you until the edge closest to the fascia fastens into the hook on the back of the bracket.

Mount the gutters to the fascia brackets. The hangers are designed to slip over the back edge of the gutter. Screw a downspout elbow to the outlet tube protruding down from the gutter. Lay your gutter into the fascia brackets that you attached to the rafter tails.

Make the hole wide enough to enable you to dangle a two inch s hook through it. Hold another elbow against the house and cut a piece of downspout to fit between the two elbows. The mounting brackets can also be snapped in on the ground. Allow the level to hang over the gutter.
