Then apply roofing cement evenly around the roof edges where these strips are going to go. Nail the roofing in place with short roofing nails spaced 6 inches apart and 1 inch in from the outer edges of the roll roofing. Attach the strip to the roof every 3 inches with nails pulling it tight as you go. Measure 35 inches up from the eaves at several intervals along the roof and mark them. Overlap the next strip of roofing material with the first by at least 4 inches.

Don t put nails any closer to the edge of the roof than 1 inch.
