How do you measure a roof for metal roofing.
If the pitch of the roof is not that steep you won t have to worry too much about following.
Add an inch or two depending on your preference for overhang.
Roughly draw out your roof on a piece of paper.
This drawing doesn t have to be perfect but it does need to clearly label all of the features of the roof in inches and feet.
Remember it doesn t have to be to scale or look pretty.
Determine the length of the metal panels needed for one side of your roof by measuring from the fascia board the board attached to your roof joists to the ridge the peak of the roof.
This number will tell you the total length of metal panels needed.
Measuring for a metal roof begins with getting a ladder.
The very first thing to do when measuring your roof for metal roofing is to draw out a top down drawing of your roof.
You will need to go up on top.
It does have to contain all the straight lines of your roof and an accurate measurement of those lines.
For example your roof could measure 12 feet to its peak.
For example if you measure 12 feet then make the length 12 feet 1 inch or 12 feet 2 inches.
